Interview

1.What is your definition of women empowerment?

Creating an enabling environment for women to have a strong sense of purpose and self-worth knowing that their lives, unique attributes and what they bring to the table matter.

When women know their contribution matters it unlocks their inborn drive to give off who they are and what they have.

Women who live for a purpose bigger than themselves and are guided by their core values and strong convictions are better able to see beyond what they don’t have or who they are not to recognize their unique ability to change their world.

What lies within her, not outside of herself, is enough to form the basis of her strong sense of self-worth; such is a woman who is empowered.

2.What motivated you to get involved in being inspirational for change?

My passion and desire to live out the values of conscious living and purpose driven life, is what inspires me. I believe in everyone’s innate potential to show our unique light. When I embrace my light and truth, I am empowered to help others find their light and do the same for others.

This I do by sharing my life and perspective on our inner sense of beauty and power as people and in that way reminding ourselves that we were created for a higher purpose that is bigger than our selves.

Our lives are evolving and the world we live in is constantly changing so we need to keep challenging ourselves and transforming our thinking to tap into our full potential.

I get involved because we constantly need to remind ourselves of who we truly are even when the odds are against us. It is important to have a strong sense of self-worth and inner strength in order to create a life of meaning and purpose for myself and others, this is what makes me want to stay on this journey.

It is indeed at a place of giving and serving others that our lives are enriched.

3.What are some key characteristics of an empowered person?

Self-worth – The Bible says we were fearfully and wonderfully made. Knowing and believing that you are worth it.

Self-awareness – Being conscious of your abilities, your triggers, and most importantly your contribution to creating outcomes in your life. This is an element that helps us take responsibility.

Self-approval – Accept and approve of yourself without the need to rely on external validation. Live guided by your core values and strong convictions.

Self-expression – Do not let your voice be drowned out by negative noises around you. Let your voice be heard as you give yourself permission to fully express the truest version of yourself.

Empowerment of others – Empowered people empower others; we rise as we lift others and our lives our enriched as we reach out to others.

4.What can leaders or individuals interested in advocacy do to facilitate empowerment?

Leaders must take interest in people and care about their growth and development. Always seek to understand people’s unique attributes and circumstances so you can help them find a suitable path to their greatness.

Have a core message that you advocate for as a leader or influencer, invest your time, resources, and in relationships that contributes towards unleashing your potential so you can better serve others with your gifts. Continuous self- improvement and learning about matters relating to your core message is critical.

Collaborate, reach out and network with like-minded people to benefit from knowledge sharing and to achieving higher impact.

Be true to yourself, stay authentic.

5.What advice would you give to those who want to give up due to a lack of empowered feeling, thinking and action? (e.g. What is an important first step)

Lack of empowered feeling stems from lack of sense of purpose and meaning. Each feeling has its origin to the meaning we give to situation and how we choose to interpret our outcomes and ultimately how we see ourselves as well as thoughts we embrace on a consistent basis.

When we are aware of that we can start with replacing negative thought patterns that feed our limiting beliefs. We must find ways to replace disempowering thoughts with new empowering ones.

Thoughts that affirm your worth, embrace your sense of purpose and meditation on the word of truth about the meaning of your existence. Affording yourself the opportunity to start on that journey of transforming your mind can have a significant impact on how you see yourself and ultimately how you feel about yourself.

Start with leading your mind in the direction of your dreams.
